Rhode Island hospitals boost economy by $6.5 billion

Rhode Island hospitals contributed more than $6.5 billion to the state's economy in 2014, according to a new report by the Hospital Association of Rhode Island. The hospitals employ nearly 20,000 full-time health care professionals and spend about $1.4 billion a year on goods and services, which in turn generate additional jobs and spending for the local economy.
