HCA today announced it will give up to $1 million to support the Nepal earthquake relief efforts of three international disaster relief organizations. The health system will match up to $500,000 of donations from HCA employees and vendors to the American Red Cross, and donate $250,000 each to Doctors Without Borders and MedShare International, a non-profit that redistributes surplus supplies and equipment to those in need. The 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck the Himalayan nation on Saturday, followed by multiple aftershocks and an avalanche on Mount Everest, killing more than 5,000 people.
