H-ISAC TLP White Potential for Malicious Cyber Activities to Disrupt the Tokyo Summer Olympics

 
 

On July 19, 2021, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a Private Industry Notification (PIN 20210719-001), to warn entities associated with the Tokyo Summer Olympics about cyber actors looking to negatively impact the event via malicious activities including distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, ransomware, social engineering, phishing campaigns, or insider threats to interfere with live broadcasts of the event, compromise sensitive data, or impact public or private digital infrastructure supporting the Olympics.

The FBI to date is not aware of any specific cyber threats against these Olympics, but encourages associated entities to remain vigilant and maintain best practices in their network and digital environments.
