Hospitals and health systems add 10,800 jobs in October 2022

Hospitals and health systems added 10,800 jobs in October, while U.S. jobs overall increased by 261,000, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Total health care jobs grew by over 52,000 in October to a seasonally adjusted 16.6 million. Nursing and residential care facility employment also grew by 11,100 in October.

OCR reminder: HIPAA rules apply to online tracking technologies

HIPAA-regulated entities are not permitted to use online tracking technologies in a manner that would result in impermissible disclosures of protected health information to tracking technology vendors or any other violation of the HIPAA rules, HHS' Office for Civil Rights reminded covered entities and business associates in a bulletin yesterday.

CMS Delays Enforcement of the Good Faith Estimate Convening Provider Requirement

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) today released new guidance extending an enforcement delay of the uninsured/self-pay good faith estimate convening provider requirements until further rulemaking to establish a standard technology or transaction. Under the No Surprises Act, providers are required to share good faith estimates with uninsured and self-pay patients prior to any service scheduled three or more days in advance, or at the request of the patient.
