AHA Comments on CMS Outpatient PPS /ASC Proposed Rule for CY 2019

The AHA is deeply disappointed in certain proposals that CMS has chosen to set forth in this proposed rule for the CY 2019 outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS), which run afoul of the law and rely on the most cursory of analyses and policy rationales. Taken together, they would have a chilling effect on beneficiary access to care and new technologies, while also dramatically increasing regulatory burden.

Special Bulletin: DHS Issues Proposed Rule on Impact of Public Benefit Receipt on Immigration Status

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Sept. 22 announced a proposed rule that could limit legal immigrants’ future immigration status, such as ability to get a green card or become a citizen, based on their receipt of public benefits. The rule would expand the types of programs that can contribute to a “public charge” determination to include Medicaid and the Medicare Part D low-income subsidy, among other programs.
