The AHA invites you to a webinar on “Transportation and the Role of Hospitals,” part of our social determinants of health series. Transportation is a significant factor in building and sustaining healthy communities. It determines how easily resources and services, including health care, can be accessed. With 3.6 million people in the U.S. facing difficulty obtaining medical care due to transportation, many hospitals and health systems are developing resources to improve transportation in their communities. Learn how a rural and an urban hospital, Taylor Regional Hospital in Kentucky and Denver Health Medical Center, established programs and partnerships to advance transportation services.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the impact of transportation barriers on health
  • Outline strategies to screen and identify patients facing transportation issues
  • Describe innovative programs developed to meet the transportation needs in communities
  • Explore the opportunities as well as challenges of implementing programs to address transportation issues

Speakers:

  • Jane Wheatley, Chief Executive Officer, Taylor Regional Hospital
  • Amy Friedman, Chief Experience Officer, Denver Health and Hospital Authority
  • Moderator: Nancy Combs, Director, Community Health, Equity and Wellness, Henry Ford Health System
