Join us for an enlightening and impactful webinar on equity in health care. Dr. Mauvareen Beverley brings a wealth of expertise in addressing health care inequities and unconscious bias. She will share how she has developed and executed programs aimed at increasing cultural competency among clinical and administrative teams. These efforts have specifically focused on improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations, who experience disproportionately poor health outcomes across the care continuum. Dr. Beverley will share real-world examples and discuss her approach to addressing health care inequities and unconscious bias in the health care workplace. Please join this webinar to hear about Dr. Beverley’s book, “9 Simple Solutions to Achieve Health Equity A Guide for Healthcare Professionals and Patients” and grasp insights on how you can help improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the intricate connection between perception vs reality of the individual and population served as a result of conscious and unconscious bias
- Recognize the detrimental impact of negative language in medical records, specifically those labeled non-compliant and understand the importance of asking the “Why” question
- Describe the effectiveness of a novel cultural competency and patient engagement initiative in reducing 30-day hospital readmissions
- Understand how to address and acknowledge health inequities for vulnerable populations with resources such as SPOT CHECK Methodology, non-compliant tools
