In a series of speeches the Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justices Criminal Division announced that they are "stepping up" use of cases filed under the False Claims Act as a tool to investigate potential criminal activity.
On July 15, Congress voted to override President Bush's veto of H.R. 6331, theMedicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008. President Bushvetoed the legislation earlier that day, citing objections to provisions that wouldcut payments to Medicare Advantage plans, among other reasons.
