Valley Presbyterian Hospital Collaborates to Combat Food Insecurity

Three children crowd around a cooked dish in the Valley Presbyterian cooking class

Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, Calif., is addressing food insecurity in the San Fernando Valley one recipe at a time.

The hospital has partnered with the nonprofit Meals in Motion to provide free cooking classes, designed to teach parents and kids how to cook meals that are both inexpensive and healthy. The overarching goal? Fight hunger within the local community.

Founded by Nicholas Doran, the program offers group family classes once a month; in-home, one-on-one experiences are also available for a fee. The profits from personal classes are used to fund the free group classes. Learn more about this collaboration with Valley Presbyterian Hospital, and how it promotes wellness within the community, in this ABC7 article.
