At Landmark Medical Center, based in Woonsocket, R.I., new moms and their babies receive care in a comfortable setting designed to feel like home. Landmark’s Maternity Care and Newburn Nursery Precious Beginnings specializes in offering a single room maternity experience, where all aspects of the birth process occur in one room with a consistent team of care providers. It’s called LDRP care, which stands for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum.

All patients participating in this experience at Landmark have their own room with a private bathroom and shower, and the room is “equipped to provide comprehensive maternity care and support” for the mom, partner and newborn. The Landmark team is trained in labor, delivery, postpartum and nursery care, and all are certified in neonatal resuscitation. The team follows national standards of care recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Another aspect of the birthing experience at Landmark is “family-focused learning.” The nursing team provides education and assistance on caring for a newborn and involves parents as well as siblings.

Once mom and baby go home, the Landmark women’s health team offers ongoing care and support, including being available 24/7 by phone.
