As cornerstones of the communities they serve, hospitals and health systems play an essential role in advancing health for all. That is especially the case for caregivers serving rural populations.

Eastern New Mexico Medical Center (ENMMC) serves as a regional medical hub for southeastern New Mexico, providing lifesaving medically necessary care for all patients regardless of their ability to pay.

Patients who cannot fully afford their medical care are provided deep discounts or even charity care. The hospital also has resources to help them access medications and medical support devices.

In 2023, via more than 194,000 patient encounters across its hospital and growing network of clinics and other outpatient sites of care, ENMMC provided more than $39 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable.

Additional support for social determinants of health in the community includes financial donations to charitable organizations such as The United Way of Chaves County and supporting collection drives for the local food banks.

At the same time, workforce development remains a priority. The health system has successfully recruited new specialist physicians, expanding care options and making more advanced procedures available in the community.

ENMMC is a health care provider that always searching for new and better ways to serve patients and improve health outcomes.

“Regardless of holidays or challenging weather, our dedicated team of clinicians and caregivers are using their skills, experience and compassion in service to the patients who are counting on us,” says CEO Warren Yehl.
