Corewell Health K9 retires, but not before coming full-circle with one of his patients

Telling the Hospital Story: Corewell Health k9 security dog Rex and Grace Bing

Rex, a 10-year-old German Sheppard that has served as a resident security police K9 for Corewell Health since 2014, retired last August. But before leaving the health system's hallways forever, he reunited with a familiar face he once comforted. Grace Bing, a patient care technician at Corewell Health's Blodgett Hospital, was at her first clinical last year when she noticed a familiar four-legged friend roaming the halls. She initially met Rex in 2021 as a patient undergoing treatment for a rare disease called Takayasu Arteritis. Bing was bedridden for a few days of her treatment; when she was finally cleared to walk the halls, she met Rex during one of her first walks.
