CDC: Patients at risk of listeriosis from certain Blue Bell ice cream products

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention today alerted U.S. hospitals and long-term care facilities not to serve or sell any Blue Bell Creameries ice cream products made at the company’s Oklahoma plant, which may be contaminated with Listeria. CDC and the Food and Drug Administration are collaborating with state and local health officials to investigate an outbreak of listeriosis linked to the products, some of which were distributed to institutions. “Information available to date suggests that ill people likely acquired L. monocytogenes infections from ice cream products they consumed while hospitalized for unrelated causes,” CDC said.
