AONE Foundation Honors Nurse Researcher

At its annual meeting last week, the AONE Foundation awarded Rose Sherman with the 2018 Nurse Researcher Award for her significant contributions to nursing studies. Sherman is professor of nursing and director of the Nursing Leadership Institute in the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at the Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. She also is editor-in-chief of Nurse Leader, the official journal of AONE. Read more here

Boston Marathon Finalist Credits Nursing as Fulfilling Vocation 

Sarah Sellers — who made headlines as a virtual unknown coming in at second place at the Boston Marathon on Monday — credits her nursing career as a motivating force, the Washington Post reports. “It’s really rewarding and gives me perspective on life,” the 26-year-old said of her career. Sellers is a nurse anesthetist in Tucson, AZ, where she is affiliated with numerous hospitals.

Nursing Appointments in the Field

OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee, IL, has named Shelley Wiborg chief nursing officer, The Register-Mail reports. Wiborg is CNO of OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, IL, and will continue in her current role in addition to her new position as CNO of OSF Saint Luke.

Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale, FL, appointed Netonua Reyes to the role of chief operating officer and chief nursing officer at Broward Health Imperial Point, Citybizlist.com reports. Prior to joining Broward Health, Reyes was the director of nursing at Jackson Health North in Miami. 

Paris, IL-based Community Hospital/Family Medical Center appointed Tiffany Turner vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer, the hospital announced. Turner has worked as a dedicated provider in the hospital’s occupational health clinic since 2014.
