The term artificial intelligence, or AI, refers to the ability of computers and computerized instruments to exhibit cognitive behaviors characteristic of human thought: to read and absorb knowledge; to sift data and learn from it; to reason; to plan ahead; to perceive the environment and its changes; to understand and communicate in natural, spoken language.
