Hospitals are proud to count veterans among their ranks

It makes sense that Election Day and Veterans Day fall so close to one another on the calendar, given that one of our most fundamental American rights – the right to vote and elect our leaders – has been secured for us by the courageous service of our veterans. You can show your deep appreciation for those who have worn the uniform and those who continue to serve the country on our behalf by hiring veterans. They deserve respect for the knowledge and skills gained during their military service and the opportunity to put what they’ve learned to work in our communities – especially our hospitals. The AHA and others have developed resources and strategies for hiring veterans. On this day of thanks to and celebration of our veterans, hospitals are proud to count veterans among the women and men who care for patients and communities. And as you commemorate Veterans Day, remember the connection between our democracy and those charged with safeguarding it, today and in years past.
