Golden Gourmet has recalled frozen waffle with turkey sausage entrees that were distributed to institutions in six states because the items may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced yesterday. The 5,248 pounds of recalled products bear establishment number “P-51269” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were shipped to institutions in Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, South Carolina and Tennessee. L. monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns. If a retail distribution list for the recalled products becomes available, the USDA will post it at www.fsis.usda.gov. The agency said there were no confirmed reports of adverse reactions to the recalled products.
