The deadline to join the AHA’s Health Research & Educational Trust’s Hospital Improvement Innovation Network has been extended to Thursday, Dec. 22. To date, more than 30 state partners and 1,550 hospitals have committed to the HRET HIIN. The HIINs will work to reduce overall hospital-acquired conditions by 20% and 30-day hospital readmissions by 12%, building on the success of the Partnership for Patients Hospital Engagement Networks and Quality Improvement Organizations. AHA/HRET led the largest HEN projects. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently awarded HRET a two-year HIIN contract (with an optional third year based on performance) to continue efforts to reduce hospital-acquired conditions and readmissions.
