The AHA today named Maureen Swick CEO of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and AHA senior vice president of nursing effective in July, when Pamela Thompson will retire from those positions. Swick has been senior vice president and chief nurse executive at Inova in Falls Church, VA, for the past six years and previously held a variety of nursing leadership and management roles at hospitals and health systems across the Northeast. She is currently president of AONE’s board and has served as a board member for both AONE and AHA. “A highly capable and well-respected nurse leader, Maureen’s expertise is well known to health care leaders across the country,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. “Her extensive health care background will be instrumental in promoting nursing leadership excellence and helping to shape public policy for health care for years to come.” AONE is an AHA subsidiary.
