The Health Resources and Services Administration this week awarded more than $240 million to support scholarship and loan repayment programs for primary care clinicians and students who serve in underserved communities. The awards, primarily Affordable Care Act funds, will support participants in the National Health Service Corps and NURSE Corps scholarship and loan repayment programs, Faculty Loan Repayment Program and Native Hawaiian Health Scholarship Program. “These awards not only strengthen our primary health care workforce, but increase access to primary care in urban, rural and frontier locations nationwide,” said HRSA Acting Administrator Jim Macrae.
