Senate sends short-term spending bill to House
The Senate voted 78-20 today to pass a continuing resolution funding most federal programs at their current levels through Dec. 11. The House is expected to approve the measure later today, which would avert a government shutdown when the current funding bill expires at midnight. President Obama is expected to sign the legislation.
