The National Minority Quality Forum today presented its Booker T. Washington Award to University Hospitals in Cleveland for its efforts to promote diversity at all levels, focus on supplier diversity and reduce health care disparities.

University Hospitals CEO Thomas Zenty III accepted the award at the Forum’s Leadership Summit on Health Disparities and Congressional Black Caucus Spring Health Braintrust in Washington, D.C.

“Tom is committed to making sure University Hospitals provides for all aspects of its community,” said Maulik Joshi, AHA associate executive vice president, who presented the award. “Through programs such as Vision 2010, the community is growing economically and through an effort such as the Rainbow Care Connection access to care has been expanded. I am honored to be able to present the award to such a deserving organization.”

Zenty is a former AHA board member. University Hospitals last year was an honoree for the AHA’s Equity of Care award.
