WellStar Health System - Promotores de Salud (Health Promoters)

WellStar Health System is striving to eliminate diabetes and obesity among Hispanic and Latino populations. The Promotores de Salud (Health Promoters) program identifies people at high risk for diabetes and provides them with culturally sensitive training materials, classes and support groups. Classes and groups are hosted in places of worship, culturally important settings that encourage attendance. A partnership between WellStar and Kennesaw State University resulted in the training materials aimed at helping individuals make positive lifestyle changes. Promotores also participate in local health fairs and receive continuing education to benefit the people they serve.
