Hancock Medical Center’s Mammography Assistance Program provides screening and diagnostic mammography tests for uninsured women. The program receives support through fundraising efforts such as the “Golf with a Purpose” tournament and festival each year so that it can help women get screened for breast cancer who otherwise would forgo recommended mammograms due to the cost.

Why do they do it?

Mammograms and other screenings increase the chances of detecting breast cancer early, when it is most likely to be curable.

Impact

Since the program began in 2000, approximately 900 uninsured women in Hancock County have received free mammograms.
