Violence Prevention: Joint Community Efforts

Held October 17, 2017
Webinar Video Replay

Each community’s capacity to prevent violence varies on the community members’ level of engagement and the support from law enforcement and other government entities. The University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute along with some of their community partners worked together to “padlock” and eventually close a gas station near the hospital that had reportedly been the site of drug activity and other related crimes.

Cynthia Kelleher, President and CEO and Lynn Williams, security coordinator for the UM Rehab Institute speaks to the role hospitals can play to ensure the safety of their employees and patients and to reduce violence in their community by collaborating with local law enforcement, the business community and other community groups. Participants will learn how to organize and partner with others; how to plan and manage the financial impact of these efforts; and, how to use political and economic pressure to strengthen your case.

In support of our Hospitals Against Violence Initiative, the AHA and its Section for Long-Term Care and Rehabilitation invites you to join your colleagues on a webinar as they highlight their experiences.
