Housing and the Role of Hospitals

This AHA webinar was on the latest resource in our social determinants of health series, “Housing and the Role of Hospitals,” a guide to address housing instability and its impact on health.

With 1.48 million homeless individuals in the U.S., hospitals and health systems are joining together with communities to reduce homelessness. The webinar highlighted strategies Children's Mercy Kansas City and University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System developed to recognize housing barriers as a priority health issue in their communities. The hospitals shared their journey of implementing programs to assist those in need of stable and secure living conditions.
