AHA Resources Can Help You Celebrate National Nurses and National Hospital Weeks

The AHA and its American Organization for Nursing Leadership affiliate have developed numerous resources to assist hospitals and health systems in celebrating National Nurses Week, May 6-12, and National Hospital Week, May 9-15. We encourage you to use them in your efforts to honor the dedicated members of your team.

The theme for National Nurses Week is Nurses are superheroes. And the theme for National Hospital Week is Inspiring Hope through Healing.

These important weeks give us an extra opportunity to highlight America’s hospitals, health systems and health care workers and the innovative ways you are supporting the needs of your patients and community. This is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Videos

The AHA created two new videos in tribute to health care workers. The first, “Moments,” captures in short order what health care workers experienced in the past year. Visit AHA’s National Hospital Week webpage to download this video and share it widely. You also can customize the video and share it in your local market.

For the second video, AHA collaborated with Musicians on Call to create an original song and music video inspired by stories and reflections of health care employees at AHA member hospitals and health systems. This production will launch during National Hospital Week to commemorate all the efforts of health care workers during a year like no other. We will share the video with you and your teams when it is released.

Digital Toolkit

The digital toolkit provides sample messages and graphics you can use to show appreciation and support to health care workers. Assets include the blue hospital “H” logo for social media profile takeovers, National Hospital Week logo and sample tweets. Download the toolkit here.

Moments of Inspiration and Reflection

We are promoting stories from health care workers about what inspired them this past year and what keeps them coming back to work. National Hospital Week also provides an opportunity to honor caregivers and others who we have lost due to COVID-19 with a moment of silence, a tribute on social media or other avenue of showing respect and thanks. Encourage your team members to share their stories and inspiration on social media using the tag #hospitalweek.

Super Nurse Virtual Comic Book

Share your favorite superhero pose or assemble your team of nurses and be transformed into a virtual comic that will be streamed on AONL social channels throughout National Nurse Week. Learn more.
