On April 24 at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting in Washington, D.C., the AHA will present its 2023 Award of Honor to Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi for her efforts to advance health care. Pelosi was a central figure in development and passage of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, and in empowering Medicare to negotiate drug prices and cap out-of-pocket costs for seniors under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

“Throughout her career, Speaker Emerita Pelosi has been a friend to America’s hospitals and health systems,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. “She is a champion for better health care, an advocate for patients, and she continues to work hard to expand opportunities for children, seniors, students, veterans and the poor.”
