HHS releases tool to help communities gauge environmental health
The Department of Health and Human Services today released the Environmental Justice Index, a tool to help policymakers and communities identify health risks from pollution and other environmental hazards.
“Too many communities across our nation, particularly low-income communities and communities of color, continue to bear the brunt of pollution,” said HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. “Meeting the needs of these communities requires our focused attention and we will use the Environmental Justice Index to do just that.”
