NIH awards $29 million for research and outreach to address COVID-19 disparities
The National Institutes of Health yesterday awarded $29 million from the American Rescue Plan Act to support and expand its Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) Against COVID-19 Disparities, which conducts community-engaged research and outreach to strengthen COVID-19 vaccine confidence and access, testing and treatment in communities of color.
The funding will help 21 CEAL research teams work with community leaders and trusted organizations during 2021, including NIH Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics testing centers, state health departments, certified diabetes educators and community health workers.
