CMS releases final home health payment rule for CY 2021
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services yesterday issued a final rule updating the home health prospective payment system for calendar year 2021.
The rule increases CY 2021 payments by a net 1.9% ($390 million) relative to CY 2020, continues application of the 4.36% behavioral offset and permanently expands the telehealth technologies that were implemented during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
The AHA remains concerned that implementing a new HH case-mix system during the pandemic makes it virtually impossible that the CY 2020 behavioral offset, which did not account for a pandemic, aligns with actual provider behavior.
