White House issues strategy to strengthen U.S. cybersecurity

President Trump yesterday released a National Cyber Strategy, which outlines how the administration plans to strengthen U.S. cybersecurity. Topics include working with the private sector to secure the nation’s critical infrastructure, which includes hospitals and health care; combating cybercrime and improving incident reporting; building the cybersecurity workforce; and promoting an interoperable and secure internet. Among specific actions, the administration plans to update the National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Research and Development Plan to set priorities for addressing cybersecurity risks to critical infrastructure, including improved information sharing; leverage immigration reforms to grow the nation’s cybersecurity workforce; and incentivize an adaptable and secure technology marketplace.
