Obituary: Health care leader and past AHA chair Wade Mountz

Wade Mountz, who led Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Healthcare and its predecessor organizations for 30 years and was a past AHA chair and president of the Kentucky Hospital Association, died March 5. He was 95. Mountz served as AHA chairman in 1975, KHA president in 1959-60 and president of the American Protestant Hospital Association in 1969-70. He was a pioneer in helping launch the Voluntary Hospitals of America, serving on its board until 1989 and as president and CEO in 1989-90, and served on the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations Board of Commissioners from 1976-91. Among other professional achievements, Mountz received the Gold Medal Award of Excellence in Hospital Administration from the American College of Healthcare Executives and was named to the University of Kentucky Public Health Hall of Fame and Modern Healthcare Health Care Hall of Fame.
