The AHA’s Hospitals Against Violence initiative and AHA’s Health Research & Educational Trust’s Hospital Improvement Innovation Network Aug. 27 at 12 p.m. ET will host a webinar on preventing violence in the workplace. Laura Castellanos, AHA associate director, and Kevin Tuohey and Roy Williams from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety will share strategies to prepare for, respond to, and prevent workplace violence. AHA’s HAV initiative shines a light on how hospitals and health systems are working to heal victims of violence and their communities, as well as prevent further acts of violence. The HAV initiative shares examples and best practices with the field, with a particular emphasis on youth violence prevention, workplace violence prevention, combatting human trafficking and other programs. AHA HRET HIIN has provided educational resources on patient and worker safety, including its Culture of Safety change package and Culture of Safety checklist.
