Report calls for national agenda to promote behavioral health in children
A new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine calls for a national agenda to improve mental, emotional and behavioral health in children and youth. The report calls for the Department of Health and Human Services to lead and coordinate the effort with public and private partners, articulating specific national goals and an integrated plan to measure and track progress; and for relevant federal agencies to support research, demonstration projects and cross-sector partnerships to implement and scale up effective interventions. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and National Institutes of Health sponsored the report.
