Maine Appeals Order to Comply with Voter Approval of Medicaid Expansion

The Maine health commissioner has appealed a court order requiring the state to submit to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services a state plan amendment ensuring Medicaid eligibility for qualified low-income residents, according to news reports. A state court last week agreed with petitioners that the administration had failed to submit the state plan amendment by April 3 as required by a state referendum expanding Medicaid to adults with incomes up to 138% of the federal poverty level.
