Former AHA Board Chair D. Kirk Oglesby passed away this past weekend after a brief illness. AHA chair in 1992, he also chaired the American College of Healthcare Executives and The Joint Commission. He received the AHA’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award in 1997 for his contributions and leadership. Oglesby led the establishment of AnMed Health to serve Anderson, SC, and surrounding communities. A man of integrity who cared deeply about others, he will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his community. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bobbie, and his three daughters. He was 87. “Kirk was a true gentleman who was a role model to so many in our field in his integrity and commitment to serving his community, his state and the nation, where he leaves a legacy of great accomplishment,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. “He honored the AHA and the entire field with his leadership and commitment.” To read a first person oral history from an interview AHA conducted with Oglesby in 2011, click here.
