The Senate Finance Committee today held a hearing on President Trump’s nominees to serve as assistant secretary for financial resources and assistant secretary for family support in the Department of Health and Human Services. John Bartrum, nominated as assistant secretary for financial resources, is a colonel currently serving as the mobilization assistant to the Commander Air Force Medical Operations Agency. He previously has served as a partner at Squire Patton Boggs, senior professional staffer to the House Appropriations Committee, budget director at the National Institutes of Health, and professional staff in the Office of Management and Budget, among other positions. Lynn Johnson, nominated as assistant secretary for family support, is director of Jefferson County Human Services in Colorado. She previously ran a consulting firm focused on mental health, high-risk youth and child welfare, and before that served as chief of staff for former Colorado Lt. Gov. Jane Norton and deputy director for policy for former Gov. Bill Owens.
