The National Quality Forum today announced a guide to help health care organizations and clinicians advance opioid stewardship and appropriate pain management. The National Quality Partners Opioid Stewardship Playbook, available at the NQF online store March 12, offers strategies in seven areas: promoting leadership commitment and culture; implementing organizational policies; advancing clinical knowledge, expertise and practice; enhancing patient and family caregiver education and engagement; tracking, monitoring and reporting performance data; establishing accountability; and supporting community collaboration. NQF will host a webinar on the resource at 12 p.m. ET on March 29. AHA Chief Medical Officer Jay Bhatt, D.O., and Physician Alliance Vice President Elisa Arespacochaga contributed to the guide.
