San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center - CARE Fund

The CARE Fund provides financial resources for patients to acquire care associated with the Stephanie L. Miner Women’s Imaging Center at San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center.

What is it?

The CARE Fund provides financial resources for patients to acquire care associated with the Stephanie L. Miner Women’s Imaging Center at San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center.

Who is it for?

Residents who have limited income and no or inadequate health insurance.

Why do they do it?

Nearly 25 percent of the 50,000 residents of rural San Luis Valley live at or below the national poverty level. Though early cancer detection improves survival rates, those with limited income do not often make these tests a priority. To encourage women to get screened, regardless of their ability, local organizations and businesses contribute to the Fund.

Impact

The CARE Fund has helped more than 100 women pay for mammograms, breast and pelvic ultrasounds, breast MRIs, hysterectomies and other associated procedures.
