Who is it for?

Uninsured and underinsured residents of Broward County.

Why do they do it?

Broward County is home to more than 1.7 million people, with an increasing number of uninsured and underinsured and a growing number of households with an income of less than $20,000. Health status data reveal a rising prevalence of many chronic health conditions, including HIV/AIDS, hypertension, diabetes, and obesity. These findings suggest a continuing need for a comprehensive array of health and human services.

Impact

Funded in collaboration with the State of Florida Department of Health, the Broward County Public School System, and Broward Health, the Health Center provides accessible, affordable care for approximately 3,500 pediatric and adult patients from the community every year. In addition, the Health Center provides basic school health services to students, with approximately 2,250 visits annually.
