The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Dec. 28 released guidance on how health care workers can receive expedited renewal of their Employment Authorization Document. Health care workers whose permits are expiring in 30 days or less can find out if they qualify for expedited processing using pages 7-9 of this DHS advisory memorandum, and should be prepared to provide evidence of their current employment. Note: Expedited processing only means that USCIS will process the application faster.

AHA has been on the forefront of this issue on behalf of health care workers, urging the Biden administration to take action to solve the backlog of immigrant visas for eligible foreign-trained nurses by ensuring efforts are made to prioritize and expedite the visa issuance process for eligible nurses.
