The deadline to comment on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ proposed rule on Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments-certified labs was extended through Sept. 26, according to the Federal Register. AHA this week in its own comments cautioned CMS against softening standards designed to maintain the safety and quality of laboratory testing in the U.S., while expressing support for a separate proposal that would make permanent COVID-19-era waivers that expanded the agency’s ability to deploy alternative sanctions for non-compliance in certificate of waiver laboratories.
