Joy Lewis, AHA senior vice president of health equity strategies and executive director of its Institute for Diversity and Health Equity, yesterday moderated a discussion with two investment fund leaders focused on improving health care access, quality and affordability: Maria Velissaris, founding partner of SteelSky Ventures, a female-led venture capital firm focused on companies working to improve health outcomes for women; and Marcus Whitney, founding partner of Jumpstart Health Investors and managing partner of Jumpstart Nova, which invests exclusively in Black-founded-and-led health care companies focused on communities facing disparities in health outcomes. AHA is an investor in both funds.
