AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack this week was a featured speaker during the International Hospital Federation’s World Hospital Congress, held both virtually and in person in Barcelona. Pollack along with Melinda Estes, president and CEO at Saint Luke’s Health System and immediate past chair of the AHA Board of Trustees, shared insights from the North American perspective on leading during a crisis. Also presenting were Wright Lassiter III, president and CEO at Henry Ford Health System and chair-elect of the AHA Board of Trustees, on preparing for the next pandemic; Elisa Arespacochaga, AHA vice president of clinical affairs and workforce, on worker well-being and the role of leadership; and Robyn Begley, AHA’s chief nursing officer, senior vice president for workforce and CEO of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, who discussed nursing leadership in a pandemic and violence in and around the health care setting.
