FCC awards $41 million in COVID-19 telehealth funding

The Federal Communications Commission’s Wireline Competition Bureau yesterday committed $41 million in funding to 72 health care providers under Round 2 of its COVID-19 Telehealth Program. The Consolidated Appropriations Act authorized an additional $249.95 million for the program to reimburse eligible health care providers responding to the COVID-19 pandemic for telecommunications services, information services and devices needed to provide critical connected care services. FCC has limited the program to providers eligible for its Rural Health Care Program. To date, 134 providers have received funding commitments totaling $83 million.
