President Biden today announced a national month of action to mobilize the nation to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before the Fourth of July. The White House’s goal is to get 70% of U.S. adults vaccinated with at least one shot by July Fourth.

As part of the push, the AHA will partner with the White House, National Association of Broadcasters and others in a mobilization effort, in which local TV and radio stations will air vaccine education segments and feature trusted voices from their communities. Experts from the AHA and its member hospitals, as well as the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians, American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Primary Care Collaborative, will share information on benefits of vaccination, address questions and concerns, and publicize where individuals in the community can get vaccinated. For more information about AHA’s work on vaccine promotion and confidence please visit AHA’s webpage.

Other components of the Month of Action include:

  • Free child care for individuals getting vaccinated
  • Extended hours at pharmacies across the country in June to offer more flexible appointment availability
  • Community canvassing and phone- and text-banking outreach, as well as vaccination events
  • An initiative to engage Black-owned barbershops and beauty salons as vaccination sites
  • Outreach to college students and their surrounding communities
  • Incentives provided by businesses, including Anheuser-Busch, CVS, Door Dash, Major League Baseball, Microsoft, Kroger and United Airlines
