Penny Wheeler, M.D., CEO of Allina Health in Minneapolis, will chair AHA's Health Systems Council in 2021, and Bob Garrett, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health in Edison, N.J., will serve as chair-elect.

Joining the council in 2021 are: Marc Boom, M.D., president and CEO of Houston Methodist; Jeff Flaks, president and CEO of Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare; Cindy Hundorfean, president and CEO of Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh; Howard Kern, CEO of Sentara Healthcare in Norfolk, Va.;  Anne Klibanski, M.D., president and CEO of Mass General Brigham in Boston; Richard Liekweg, president and CEO of BJC HealthCare in St. Louis; Jason Little, president and CEO of Baptist Memorial Health Care in Memphis, Tenn.; and Kevin Sowers, president of Johns Hopkins Health System in Baltimore.

The 26-member council represents AHA's health systems, comprising nearly 70% of AHA hospitals, and participates in the AHA's advocacy, policy and resource development, with a particular focus on strategic opportunities.
