The AHA's Center for Health Innovation, joined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Hospital Improvement Innovation Network and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's Safety Program for ICUs, recognized seven state and allied associations for their accomplishments in performance improvement projects. 

The Delaware Hospital Association and Indiana Hospital Association received the AHA performance improvement award for engagement in HIIN; Wyoming Hospital Association and Kentucky Hospital Association received the award for improvement in HIIN; and Maine Hospital Association received the award for rural excellence in HIIN. Health Quality Innovators received the award for engagement in the AHRQ ICU Safety Program, and the Ohio Hospital Association received the award for improvement in the AHRQ ICU Safety Program.
