Hospitals add 8,300 jobs in April

Employment at the nation's hospitals rose by 0.16 percent in April to a seasonally adjusted 5,229,200 people, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. That's 8,300 more people than in March and 105,700 more than a year ago. Without the seasonal adjustment, which removes the effect of fluctuations due to seasonal events, hospitals employed 5,218,900 people in April – 1,600 more than in March and 104,700 more than a year ago. The nation's overall unemployment rate fell by 0.2 percentage point in April at 3.6 percent.
